Webinar: Analog to Digital Government Records Transformation
November 9th 2023
11:00 AM EST | 8:00 AM PST
Microfilm. Bound volumes. Photographs. Paper files. Maps. Oversize materials. These and other analog formats contain a wealth of valuable information relating to critical government functions that may be in high demand from your constituents. Government agencies with a backlog of valuable information still in analog formats can transform that content and increase accessibility for government employees, citizens and other stakeholders with digitization. But careful planning is necessary to ensure that:
- enough metadata is generated so that the resulting digital images are easily discoverable in a virtual format AND
- the resulting images and metadata are cared for properly so that digitized collections are still accessible in 5, 10, 20 or 100 years.
In this webinar, Preservica and our partners at Backstage Library Works will explore how government agencies can, with careful planning, digitally transform their backlog, maximize the discoverability of that information with metadata, and ensure that the investment in digitization is properly cared for and protected with digital preservation.
