New Preservica workflow makes it easier for DSpace users to leverage long term active preservation in the cloud

Oxford, UK | Tuesday 25th February 2014 | Tessella, a world leader in digital preservation solutions, consulting and research, has added a new workflow to Preservica, its cloud-based active preservation software, making it easier for DSpace users to safeguard valuable digital content and collections for decades to come.

Preservica user, Mark Myers, Electronic Records Archivist at Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives welcomes the new function; “we use a DSpace repository to make State records publicly available, but also systematically ingest DSpace and other digital content into Preservica to ensure it will remain accessible and readable into the future. The new workflow helps us streamline this process and further integrate our systems together.”

The new ingest workflow, which is now available to all Preservica customers, automates the bulk import of DSpace files and metadata performing integrity checking, quality assurance and characterization to protect against loss and degradation and ensure the content can be easily migrated to newer file formats overtime.

Tessella are also running a webinar: “Developing a long-term active preservation strategy for your DSpace content” where you will learn how other DSpace users are tackling the challenge of safeguarding their digital content and collections over the long term.

The webinar is on Tuesday the 11th March 2014, at 11am EST, 3pm GMT.
