Business Practice Exchange 2012: Mike Thuman’s feedback

Another great Business Practice Exchange session was held early this month, this time in Annapolis hosted by the Maryland State Archives. Efforts related to the SERI initiative wove themselves throughout the meeting as talks of self assessments turned toward education and program planning.

Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives talked about their ISO/TRAC test -audit and then shared the platform with us on discussing ways to lower the barrier in preserving electronic records. With modest operational budgets and a day or two of training, organizations of all sizes can move quickly into preserving electronic records and states like Kentucky and Michigan can share their experiences.

Reminders of limited resources and challenged budgets were still evident but meetings were filled with comments, questions and dialogue on how to stay focused and moving forward into 2013 and beyond.

Make your case now so you can attend the next BPE in 2013, it promises to be a year of more collaboration, new developments, new options and hopefully many more best practices.
