Celebrating the Stories Behind #WhatDoYouPreserve 2024
This October, Preservica’s #WhatDoYouPreserve campaign returned to celebrate #ArchivesMonth, showcasing incredible contributions from archivists and organizations committed to preserving our shared digital heritage.
This year’s standout stories included Iceland Foods’ nostalgic look at Britain’s evolving kitchen culture, showcasing how it introduced the microwave as the “air fryer” of its time. By preserving these artifacts, Iceland is not only safeguarding corporate history but also documenting the broader shifts in food trends and technology. Another highlight was the National Theatre’s dedication to preserving the fragility of digital content, with initiatives like web captures of the Black Plays Archive, ensuring the longevity of both technical archives and the cultural narratives they represent.
Preserving our past is about more than just keeping records; it’s about protecting the stories, artifacts, and insights that shape our future. Through campaigns like #WhatDoYouPreserve, we aim to amplify the importance of Active Digital Preservation™ and celebrate the innovators leading the way.
